Puppy Potty
Would you love to have a dog but don't live in a situation that would allow him or her free access to the outdoors in order to take care of their business? Maybe you live in an apartment or condo or spend lots of time on a boat or in an RV, or for whatever reason don't think you can responsibly own a puppy. So why not consider a puppy potty? This portable and all inclusive system can mean dog ownership for many who thought it was otherwise impossible for them.
But what is a puppy potty? And how can it mean responsibly owning a pet when you thought it was otherwise impossible? Once you find this out, you might be surprised at what it means for you and your family as far as pet ownership is concerned!
What is a Puppy Potty?
Simply put, a puppy potty is an all inclusive system that allows you dog to use the "bathroom" whenever and wherever it's convenient for you. There is a box that is covered with synthetic grass on which the dog can do its business. This means you can keep this box indoors in your apartment or condo or take it with you when vacationing or on road trips. Your dog has access to a controlled area in which he or she can relieve itself, and you don't need to worry about messes or access to the outside.
A puppy potty works much like a litter box for cats. Of course you need to dispose of the waste after your dog is finished, but it means controlling the places in which they relieve themselves and being able to provide a proper space for them as a responsible pet owner would.
Using a Puppy Potty
It might take some training to get your dog used to the system, but once they are accustomed to the arrangement, it's then simply a matter of maintaining the system. The box needs to be cleaned regularly as you would a cat box; solid waste is picked up as you would at a public park and urine drains to a reservoir below the cover so you can clean this as often as needed.
A puppy potty is usually covered with a pheromone based solution so that dogs know this is where they are expected to do their business. As with housebreaking a dog, you can also simply train your dog to relieve himself or herself in this area, if you use the system regularly. Most pet owners take their dog to this area and use a consistent command, such as "Go potty!" A reward afterwards can also mean that the dog associates their behavior with something good, so they're more likely to keep up with it.
Using a puppy potty can mean freedom of dog ownership regardless of the area in which you live. Any responsible pet owner would consider this system for their pet so he or she can "do their business" as they please.
